Find a Triathlon Coach in Bristol
If you’re looking for a triathlon coach in Bristol, Tri-Revolution offers structured, personalised coaching built around how you actually live and train. Whether you’re just getting started or working towards a specific race, the focus is simple: give you a clear plan, keep you consistent, and help you improve without overcomplicating things.
We coach athletes across Bristol and the wider South West of England, working remotely but with a strong understanding of the training environment you’re dealing with day-to-day. From early morning swims to weekend rides out towards the Mendips, your training is shaped to fit your routine, not disrupt it.
Coaching that fits around real life
Most people training for a triathlon are balancing it alongside work, family, and everything else that fills the week. That’s where having a coach makes a real difference.
Instead of guessing what to do next or trying to follow a generic plan, you’ll have a clear structure that adapts as you go. Your training is built around your current level, your schedule, and the time you actually have available.
Whether you’re training for your first sprint or building towards a longer-distance event, the approach stays the same. Keep things consistent, make steady progress, and avoid the stop-start cycle that holds many athletes back.
How triathlon coaching works
Our coaches deliver their training online, but it’s far from being hands-off.
You’ll receive a personalised training plan that’s updated regularly based on how you’re responding. Sessions are designed with purpose, so you know what each one is there to achieve rather than just ticking off workouts.
Alongside the plan, you’ll get ongoing feedback and communication. That means:
- Adjustments when life gets busy
- Guidance if something doesn’t feel right
- Support leading into races
It’s a collaborative process. You’re not just following instructions; you understand what you’re doing and why.

How our Triathlon Coaching works
Step 1: A straightforward starting point
Once you get in touch, you’ll hear directly from Head Coach Jason Newbery to arrange an initial chat. This is a chance to talk through your background, what you’re aiming for, and how training fits into your life right now.
It’s not a sales call. It’s a practical conversation to figure out whether coaching makes sense for you and, if it does, which coach and setup would suit you best.
Step 2: Building a plan around you
After that, you’ll work with your assigned coach to go a level deeper. This includes looking at your previous training, your current fitness, and how your week actually works in reality.
From there, you’ll shape a training structure that fits around your commitments. The aim is to make your training consistent and sustainable from the start, rather than something that quickly becomes hard to stick to.
Step 3: Putting the training into action
Your plan is then built and delivered through TrainingPeaks, with each session set out clearly so you know exactly what you’re doing and why.
As you train, your data and feedback are reviewed by your coach. Based on that, adjustments are made so your training keeps moving in the right direction. It’s an ongoing process, not a fixed plan you’re left to follow on your own.
Step 4: Ongoing coaching and support
As you progress, the focus shifts to keeping everything moving forward. You’ll stay in regular contact with your coach through TrainingPeaks, WhatsApp, and scheduled check-ins.
Your training is adjusted as needed, whether that’s around life, fatigue, or performance. The goal is to keep things consistent, avoid setbacks, and make steady progress towards your next race or target.
Why choose a Tri Revolution Coaching?
Training for a triathlon in Bristol
Bristol offers a great mix of training options, but it also comes with its own challenges.
Cycling routes quickly take you into rolling terrain, especially heading out towards the Mendips or along quieter roads outside the city. That’s great for building strength, but it needs to be managed properly within your plan.
Running can vary from flat city routes around the Harbourside to more undulating trails in areas like Ashton Court or Leigh Woods. Knowing how to balance those sessions makes a difference over time.
Swimming often means a mix of pool work and open water when the season allows. Getting that balance right is key, especially as you get closer to race day.
Your coaching takes all of that into account. The goal is to make the most of what’s available locally while keeping your training structured and progressive.
Who this is for
Coaching works for a wide range of athletes, including:
- Beginners training for their first triathlon
- Athletes looking to improve performance or move up in distance
- Busy professionals who need structure and accountability
- Anyone who feels stuck following the same kind of training
You don’t need to be at a certain level to get started. What matters is having a clear goal and being willing to train consistently.
Why Tri-Revolution

You’re not following a fixed template. Your plan evolves as your fitness changes, as your schedule shifts, and as you get closer to your goal.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be based in Bristol to be coached?
No. Our coaching is fully online. Athletes train with us from across the UK and internationally. Your location only matters in that we build your plan around the places you actually train.
I’m a complete beginner — is this for me?
Yes. A significant part of what we do is helping first-timers navigate the jump from one sport to three. We’ll structure your training sensibly, keep it manageable, and get you to the start line prepared.
Can I train indoors?
Yes, and plenty of our athletes do — turbo sessions, treadmill running, pool swimming. Sessions are designed to work indoors or outdoors without any loss of quality.
Can you build a plan around a specific race?
That’s exactly how we work. Tell us your race, your date and where you are now — we’ll build backwards from there.
How much contact will I have with my coach?
As much as you need. There’s no cap on athlete-initiated contact. Most athletes use a mix of TrainingPeaks messages, WhatsApp and a regular scheduled call.
How do I get started?
Get in touch via the form above. Jason Newbery will arrange an initial call, get an understanding of your background and goals, and recommend the right coach and package for you.
