Find a Triathlon Coach in Cambridgeshire

Training for a triathlon can feel overwhelming at times, especially if you’re trying to balance it with work, family, or a busy week. Whether you’re aiming for your first sprint or building toward a full-distance race, having a coach gives you more than just structure. It gives you clarity, consistency and a way to train with purpose.

Our coaching team at Tri Revolution is made up of experienced coaches with diverse backgrounds in triathlon, cycling, and endurance sports, bringing a wealth of expertise to every athlete we support.

At Tri-Revolution, we work with athletes all over the UK, including many who live and train in Cambridgeshire. Our coaching is delivered online, but it’s always personal. You’ll work directly with a qualified coach, many of whom have backgrounds as professional triathletes, and our head coach has experience coaching athletes at the Olympic Games level. This ensures you receive expert guidance tailored to your goals.

From long rides near the Fens to lunchtime runs along the River Cam, we’ll help you get the most from your training, without burning out or losing motivation halfway through your season. Our coaching team proudly serves not only Cambridgeshire but also the surrounding small towns, making our services accessible to a wide local community.

Many athletes have been coached to success by our team, benefiting from our partnerships with leading partner brands that offer exclusive deals and added value to our coached athletes.

Real Coaching, Not Just a Training Plan

Online coaching doesn’t mean less attention. In fact, it often means more. We build each athlete’s plan from scratch, based on your goals, fitness level, available time and how your body responds to the training. Triathlon coaching includes structured training sessions for swimming, cycling, and running, ensuring each discipline is developed. Your coach will adapt the plan as needed each week and stay in regular contact to keep things on track.

We’re not here to pile on the miles or overload your calendar. Instead, we’ll help you train in a smarter, more focused way so you can make progress without second-guessing yourself or getting injured.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Tailored sessions that evolve over time. No copy-and-paste plans. Your schedule is built around your life and updated based on your progress.
  • Clear feedback and ongoing support. You’ll know what to do, why you’re doing it, and how it fits into the bigger picture.
  • Balanced development across all three disciplines. Swimming, cycling, and running are each treated with equal attention, based on your needs.

We use TrainingPeaks to deliver your sessions and track your data, but the real coaching happens through conversation, regular check-ins, and honest feedback. Training sessions are tracked and adjusted for each discipline, including cycle workouts, swimming drills, and run intervals. You’re not just a dot on a graph. You’re an athlete with goals, routines, and limits that all deserve to be respected.

Coaching That Works With Where You Train

Every area comes with its own training quirks. If you’re in Cambridge or nearby towns like Huntingdon, Ely or St Ives, you probably have access to quiet country roads, riverside running routes, and a few decent swim venues. But conditions change with the season, and training outdoors in the East of England can mean cold winds, wet roads and long stretches of flat terrain that test your pacing.

We’ll take all that into account. If you’re using the guided open-water sessions at Milton Country Park, riding loops near Grafham Water, or making the most of trails at Wimpole Estate or Thetford Forest, your coach will shape your plan to match what’s available locally. And if you’re mostly training indoors during the winter months, that’s fine too. We’ll build your training around the tools and time you have, not what you don’t.

Who This Is For

We coach people at every stage of the triathlon journey. Some are learning to swim front crawl for the first time. Others are looking to qualify for age-group championships. Most fall somewhere in between, aiming to improve their performance, stay consistent, and enjoy the process.

You don’t need to be fast or experienced to benefit from coaching. You just need to be willing to put in steady effort and stay open to feedback. We’ll handle the planning and the progression. You focus on showing up.

We currently coach athletes training for:

  • Sprint and standard-distance triathlons
  • Middle and full Ironman races
  • Duathlon and aquathlon events
  • Time trials and running races as part of a bigger triathlon goal

Whether you’re preparing for your first local event or looking to improve your performance across the season, we’ll help you train with a clearer sense of direction.

How It Works

The first step is a conversation. You don’t have to commit to anything straight away. We’ll talk through your background, current training, goals and availability to see if coaching makes sense for you.

If it feels like the right fit, we’ll match you with a coach and set up your plan on TrainingPeaks. From there, you’ll have full access to your training calendar, regular reviews, and open lines of communication to ask questions or make adjustments. It’s straightforward, flexible and focused on what actually helps you improve.

This isn’t about pushing you harder just for the sake of it. It’s about building the right training rhythm for where you are now — and where you want to go.

Couldn’t recommend Jason enough, he’s helped me get ready for my first half Ironman triathlon. I’ve got 9 weeks to go and am feeling confident and noticed a huge improvement in my fitness throughout the 3 disciplines. He created a program that works around my busy work life, giving me lots of support and encouragement and keeping accountable for my training sessions. 😊

I met with Jason to discuss improving my fitness and endurance for ultra marathon events.
We thoroughly discussed what my goals were and he took time to understand how we could work together to achieve this.
I loved the simplicity of the Training Peaks app which let me see in advance what was expected of me. And straight after each workout gave me data and feedback (aka pretty graphs) of what I had achieved.
Without even realising I was being challenged and pushed beyond my comfort zones and every time I stepped up with accountability.
Jason was always on hand to answer any questions or explain any sessions. His feedback went over and above any expectations I had. He was always totally supportive and never judgmental.
My plan was tailored specifically for me.
I would highly recommend seeking a coach to help you realise what you are capable of and to help you set small goals to turn your dreams into reality.

I have been working with Jason for the last 3 years now and from a newbie in triathlon I have managed to achieve so much - I qualified for the Ironman world championships in Kona after completing my first Ironman in Tenby , Wales . I couldn’t have done that without his guidance and advice. I felt the coaching was all very personalised and it helped me gradually make the necessary adaptations for race day and stay injury free at the same time . Jason is approachable and always available to answer any questions I might have about training . I also feel there was a team approach regarding the Kona build. I am very grateful for all the support and would highly recommend their coaching services.

With Tri-Revolution, your dreams become your goals – and probably your successes. As a marathon runner, I'd dreamt of getting a Boston Qualifying time but had been plagued with injuries during previous attempts and the closest I could get was 20 minutes too slow. A BQ started to feel completely out of reach until a friend recommended coach Jason from Tri-Revolution. It was the best decision I could've made and worth every penny.

Since working with him, I've smashed my marathon PB, and now have two BQs under my belt – both achieved injury-free. What once might've felt like a miracle, I now see as the result of truly exceptional coaching.

Jason combines a scientific, evidence-based approach with genuine care and understanding. His adaptable, motivational and personalised coaching goes way, way beyond any off-the-shelf training plan. I'd couldn't recommend Tri-Revolution – and in particular, Jason – enough.

Literally the best thing I've done for my fitness both physically and mentally. The knowledge and evaluation of workouts are next to none. I love that I give a goal, say what time I have and available equipment and it's set! The support is amazing and I genuinely feel valued and cared for. Even though I'm aware I am not the only person being coached, I feel as if I am, which is amazing! Always has the time. Highly recommend to anyone!

    How our Triathlon Coaching works

    Step 1

    Initial Consultation

Following your enquiry, Head Coach Jason Newbery will personally be in touch to arrange a consultation. This focused conversation is where we work to understand your athletic history, ambitions, and current life demands. Together, we’ll explore how a structured coaching partnership could transform your potential into progress, and ensure your goals align with our proven methodology. Jason will then recommend the optimal Tri Revolution coach and package for your journey.

    Step 2

    Placing the Foundations

Your dedicated coach will conduct an in-depth onboarding consultation. This involves a detailed analysis of your past training data, combined with current fitness assessments, to accurately identify your unique strengths and development opportunities. Together, we’ll design the framework of your optimal training week, carefully integrating it with your life’s commitments. This collaborative assessment establishes the essential foundation for your entire plan and marks the beginning of your ongoing coaching partnership.

    Step 3

    And so it begins…

This is where your training takes shape. Your coach crafts your initial training schedule within TrainingPeaks, setting your structured sessions. You execute and upload your data; your coach then provides expert analysis and actionable feedback. This creates a continuous feedback loop, where your training is intelligently adapted, session by session, week by week, based on your performance, feedback, and life demands. This is responsive, bespoke coaching in action.

    Step 4

    Your Ongoing Partnership

Here, you move from planning to purposeful execution under expert guidance. Your coach provides regular, in-depth analysis and feedback on your results via TrainingPeaks, WhatsApp, and scheduled calls. This consistent dialogue ensures your training is continually refined: not just to meet your initial goals, but to adapt and maximise your performance as you progress. This is more than a plan; it’s a sustained partnership dedicated to your continual development.

    FAQ

A Triathlon coach is a person who helps an athlete improve their performance across the swim, bike and run legs. This can be purely for fun and fitness, right through to coaching professional’s.

Getting started with one of our coaches is easy, just contact us via this website, WhatApp or social media. We will assign you a coach best suited for your needs.

A phrase first coined by Sir Dave Brailsford, the 1% rule is used as an explanation of the ‘marginal gains’ principle. It states that if you improve every area of your cycling by 1%, those small gains will add up to a substantial improvement overall. At Tri Revolution, we can help you improve not only your training, but also; nutrition, strength training, tactics, equipment, bike fit and clothing choices to name a few

Indoor training is an important tool. The majority of our clients train indoors either by choice or due to time or weather conditions for at least some of their sessions. Coach set sessions can be easily adapted to suit indoor or outdoor training.

A Triathlon coach can make a huge difference to your performance. All of the top athletes are coached, but unlike in years gone by, many lower level competitors now have a coach for the simple reason that having a coach vastly helps you improve your performance for the hours you train.

Cycling is a fantastic way to increase your fitness and can be effective either indoors or outdoors. Having a coach will enable you to make the most effective use of your time, enabling you to increase your fitness and ride faster.

A Tri Revolution coach will help you to make the most effective use of the time you have available to train, implementing a progressive training plan to help you improve your FTP, endurance, Vo2 max and peak power, no matter how much or little time you have available to train.

At Tri Revolution our coaches have a wealth of experience from across all areas of the sport. We will put you with the most suitable coach for the goals you have. Your coach will help you through the process, guiding you through to your first race.

Yes. The majority of our clients have limited time in one way or another. Busy modern life styles, with work and family can make it quite tricky to training in. Our coaches are accustomed to building training plans around each riders time constraints. This is one of the benefits of having a coach who is creating unique sessions for you.

Finding a good Triathlon coach is much easier with Tri Revolution. We have four coaches, each with a unique set of experiences and expertise. Once you have made contact with us, our Head Coach will discuss your needs and requirements and recommend you the best Tri Revolution coach for you!
