Jake embarked on his racing journey at a young age, crisscrossing the country to engage in circuit races against fellow youthful competitors. Demonstrating exceptional potential and a fervor for cycling, he showcased his skills at one of Europe’s premier youth events—the Assen Youth Tour in Holland—a coveted competition for many aspiring young riders and their parents. Excelling as a youth and junior rider, he clinched victories at Elite level races, even while navigating the challenges of junior (restricted) gears. This success propelled him to join the esteemed ‘Corley Cycles,’ the premier Elite Amateur team at that time, upon entering the senior ranks. Jake’s prowess extended to national races, where he triumphed against competitors boasting National, World, and Olympic champion titles. His innate ability to read races marked him as a formidable contender, consistently proving himself in various race scenarios.
In the 2012 and 2013 seasons, Jake competed professionally for the UCI Team IG Sigma Sport, gaining valuable insights into the upper echelons of British and UCI cycle races. Recognized as a criterium specialist, he earned selection for numerous televised events, including The Tour Series and Elite National Circuit Series, securing multiple top 10 finishes.
In 2017, Jake achieved an impressive 21 race victories, securing the second position in the British Cycling Elite Rankings, surpassed only by Harry Tanfield, who later ascended to the World Tour. Notable wins included the Pirelli Supercrit at the Birmingham NEC Cycle Show and the John/Dulcie Walker Memorial races, where he clinched two significant victories in as many days. His contribution to the Team lineup resulted in an outstanding 1-2-3-4-5-7-9 finish at the Doltcini Classic.
Possessing a Degree in Sports Science from the University of Bedfordshire, Jake explored the realm of “Ergogenic Aids for Improving Cycling Performance” in his dissertation. In 2014, he temporarily stepped away from competitive racing to pursue a Master’s Degree in Elite Sporting Performance, focusing on “Markers for Overtraining in Athletes.”
Accumulating 15 years of coaching experience, Jake served as the named coach for the Elite amateur Spirit Racing Team from 2015 to 2022. Under his guidance, team riders stood on the podium over 200 times. In 2023, Jake shifted his focus, taking a hiatus from top-level racing to concentrate on expanding the RideRevolution brand. He dedicated significant time to establishing the self-funded race team ‘Ride Revolution Coaching,’ where he continues to participate in local and national races across various disciplines. Now, his role centres on supporting team riders with his extensive experience rather than pursuing personal glory.
As our Head Coach, Jake eagerly anticipates sharing his wealth of knowledge with the athletes of Tri Revolution. While available to all clients, he has a particular interest in working with high-level UK and overseas road riders.
