Javier Almarcha — Triathlon Coach

Javier has been racing for over three decades, progressing from elite-level cycling to triathlon later in his career. A lifelong competitor, he has dedicated himself to the sport with a passion that has only deepened over the years.

He holds an MSc in Endurance Sports Coaching, a Physiotherapy degree, and a Master’s in Sports Physiotherapy. He is a Level 3 World Triathlon Coach, Level 3 USA Cycling Coach, and Level 1 World Athletics Coach, alongside being a qualified Bike Fitter. This rare combination of qualifications allows him to build performance-driven training programs that are grounded in injury prevention and biomechanical efficiency.

His work experience includes roles as Sports Performance Manager at Club La Santa, where he performed bike fittings, run and swim analysis, performance testing, and hosted training camps. He also served as Head Coach for three seasons at a national level triathlon club, promoting them to the 2nd division of the Spanish National Triathlon Federation ranking and achieving 1st place in the county ranking. In this role, he coordinated assistant coaches, structured annual schedules, advised on recovery and nutrition, and managed peak performance planning.

His coaching philosophy is simple: create a tailor-made program adjusted to the reality of every athlete, where consistency is the key. He balances stimulus with recovery, ensuring athletes are never overcooked or drained from daily training.

He works with athletes from novices to podium contenders, treating every athlete as a new challenge and an opportunity to improve as a coach. His greatest strength is keeping athletes grounded, setting sensible goals through a sensible program, and delivering them to the start line healthy and ready to perform.

Having experienced all sorts of setbacks over the years, he has developed a deep empathy that allows him to truly put himself in his athletes’ shoes. He understands the ups and downs of the journey and remains fully committed to helping his athletes achieve their goals as if they were his own.
