Nick discovered triathlon at 16, joining East Grinstead Triathlon Club with a running background and a quiet fascination for races like Escape from Alcatraz. The swim was his early limiter, a challenge that would shape his long-term focus on technique and set the foundation for his coaching.
He has since raced everything from sprint to Ironman distance, including Ironman Austria and Switzerland, with standout results including 3rd in his age group at Windsor Triathlon and multiple GB age-group top-10 finishes. Beyond the racecourse, he has cycled the Pyrenees, tackled the Mont Ventoux triple, completed the Dart 10km swim, and taken on the Cape Rouleur, Cape Argus, and multiple Xterra triathlons.
Coaching evolved naturally alongside his racing. After qualifying as a personal trainer, he progressed through British Triathlon Levels 1 to 3, moving into head coach roles at two clubs and working as a Regional Development Coach. His technical foundation runs deep: over 15 years of swim video analysis, bike fitting, endurance performance testing, and sports therapy for injury rehabilitation. He has coached within the TrainingPeaks ecosystem since 2007.
His philosophy blends data-driven precision with real-world, athlete-centred development, guiding athletes from point A to point B as efficiently and sustainably as possible.
Athletes consistently thank him for clarity, structure, and measurable improvements in technique, particularly in the water—while staying injury-free and progressing without overtraining.
He most enjoys coaching triathletes from beginner through to Ironman level, especially those held back by swim technique or recurring injuries. The problem he solves is simple: helping athletes train consistently in the right zones while improving movement efficiency, unlocking progress without the trap of overtraining.
Having spent 30 years training, racing, and coaching, and overcoming his own limitations in the water, he knows exactly how to turn frustration into structured, measurable progress. Consistency, he believes, is the magic sauce. But only when linked with training in the right zone at the right time.
